Solitude Monami a Heartfelt Story Bear
Solitude Monami a Heartfelt Story Bear
'Solitude Monami' is a 12" (13" with head ribbons) La De Da' - Heartfelt Story Shabby Artisan Bear. 'Solitude' views the world through imported glass eyes with sculpted leather eye lids with "wet" accents around her glass eyes for a soulful gaze. Her legs/feet are a modified hockey stick design, long arms that hang gracefully and tight to her sides and slight concave chest to resemble a long loved bear whose stuffing is a bit worn from many hugs. She is created in a matted, sparse, hand dyed mohair in two tones of blue gray and gray dye. She has been treated and hand tinted/painted in multiple shades of clay, gray and blush pink then blended for a watercolor effect around the eyes/cheek area and for an aged, vintage appeal throughout the body. She is very well loved, plucked, weathered and worn to look like a bear from yester-year. Center seam head design. Her face has been needle sculpted to create a slightly upturned nose and petite defined chin. She is stuffed with poly, copper shot (belly) and lavender buds, imported from Provence, France. I am adding lavender to all of my bears for a distinct signature element and to enhance the "hug" experience with a gentle, therapeutic natural scent. Squeezing the buds helps release the scent, so you get a little bit of relaxation with every hug. She is a lovely weight under 1.5 pounds.
Her nose is hand sculpted out of clay and stained in multiple colors for a realistic look. Her mouth is painted. Her ears are "chubby" and stuffed for a round full effect. Her arms and legs are disk jointed and her large head is wobble jointed for movement making her nod more for a shy, "pick me up" appeal.
Solitude is the first of a series of Heartfelt Story - La De Da' Haute Shabby Bears. She wears a hand dyed and hand written excerpt from a story I am writing about bears. The words are layered under tulle on a stained heart surrounded with shabby textures from lace and embellished with a heart capturing five Swarovski crystals in various shades of blue. The text reads "...in quiet solitude the only company present was a little bear, tattered and torn...." Her shabby ribbon on her head has been vintage dyed in the same paint technique as the story heart for a bit of la de da' flair. The head piece also carries the tulle and lace in the design finished off with a black metal rose. She can not stand on her own but can be propped.
All of my designs are one of kind, no two bears are alike. From my heart to your hand....I hope the La De Da' Bears bring you a smile.
